Influence of salt stress and seed test weight on seed germination behavior and seedling growth in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Author(s): Gurkirat Singh, Shailesh Kumar

An experiment was conducted with three types of seed of HD 2967 variety of wheat ( pre sowing variety, timely sowing variety and late sowing variety)  with salt stress level (EC ds/m) and normal water for control conditions  for the influence of salt stress and seed test weight on seed germination behaviour and seedling growth in wheat. The maximum germination percentage (96.6 %) was measured for lot 2 of wheat and minimum for lot 3 (81.5 %) at controlled condition. The STI for all three seed classes (varied in test weight) of genotype HD2967 ranged from 64.70 to 85.24 %   under control condition. The maximum STI (85.24%) was measured for lot 1 of wheat and minimum for lot 3 (64.70%) at controlled condition.
