Effect of rhizospheric microbes on the germination and early growth physiology of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Author(s): Abhishek Anand, Kavita

The present study entitled “Effect of rhizospheric microbes on germination and early growth physiology of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)" was carried out with the objective to study the response of seed priming on physiology of chickpea during germination and early seedling stage. It was observed that seed priming enhanced physiological parameters such as germination percent, shoot length, root length, seedling length, vigour index, seedling dry weight, mobilization efficiency, root volume, total chlorophyll content, and biochemical parameters viz., total sugar and soluble protein content. Priming with plant growth promoting microbes like Trichoderma and Bacillus showed better results as compared to other treatments.   Key Words: Chickpea, Germination, Rhizospheric microbes
