Status of didymella blight of ridge gourd (Luffa acutangula L. (Roxb.) under temperate conditions of Kashmir

Didymella blight of ridge gourd caused by Didymella bryoniae is a serious disease and a limiting factor for successful cultivation of ridge gourd in Kashmir valley. The survey conducted in major ridge gourd growing areas of the valley in 2004 and 2005 revealed that the disease was prevalent in all the locations surveyed, though in varying proportions. The average disease incidence of 32.6 and 36.4 per cent and intensity of 14.8 and 18.8 per cent on leaves, besides the disease incidence of 9.6 and 11.2 per cent on fruits was recorded during the year 2004 and 2005, respectively.
