Sowing of chickpea cv. Vishal was done during the rabi season on the respective dates. Full quantity of fertilizer (N, P and K) was applied at the time of sowing. Nitrogen was applied through urea, phosphorus through single super phosphate (SSP) and potash was applied through muriate of potash. The results revealed that average nitrogen uptake was highest in inceptisol (154.84 kg ha-1) followed by entisol (112.26 kg ha-1) and vertisol (102.71 kg ha-1) the difference in N uptake could be attributed due to morphological and physico-chemcial properties of the soil.
