Effect of TDZ on high frequency multiple shoot regeneration from cultured seeds of rice (Oryza sativa L.)

The study was undertaken to induce an efficient and high frequency multiple shoot regeneration from tissue cultured rice seeds. Seeds of two rice genotypes namely Rajshree and RAU-Aer03 were cultured on MS medium with different concentrations of TDZ (4.54 µM, 9.08 µM and 13.62 µM) including control that is without TDZ. Among the four different media, medium MS3 (MS + 9.08 µM) was proved to be the best for multiple shoot regeneration followed by media MS2 (MS + 4.54 µM), MS4 (MS + 13.62 µM) and MS1 (MS basal medium), respectively. Genotype RAU-Aer03 showed better response. An efficient and high frequency multiple shoot regeneration system in two rice genotypes was developed.
