Pulses as the climate smart crops

Author(s): Jeet Ram Choudhary, Sudhir Kumar, Prakash Kumar Jha, Anurag Tripathi

The climate is changing at the rate never before in recorded history of mankind. It is going to bring drastic changes in the environment and in turn to agriculture and health specifically. The changing climate will further put more pressure on agricultural ecosystems to meet the needs of ever growing human population, particularly in regions or ecologies that are particularly vulnerable. Agricultural production to meet the food security and climate change are very well linked. Therefore, it’s the high time to develop such strategies, which can sustain the agricultural ecologies and systems in the long run against the vagaries of nature.
